Average rating: Stars
Stars Markus breaks all the rules
Put succintly this is a "must buy". This NO book on goodie-goodie talk and no results.

One - Recruit on talent (not necessarily skills)
Two - Leverage the positives and don't be a reformist

Anything else is too time consuming and painful.

Must read!
First, Break All the Rules: What the World's Greatest Managers Do Differently - Marcus Buckingham, Curt Coffman
Stars Attention All Managers and HR Recruiters: A Must Read!
There are so many management books out there where the author puts together a model based on his or her own experiences. This book, however, is based on years of research of managers from all angles and sizes of business. Although empirically based, don't let that fool you into thinking it's boring. It's a very enjoyable and easy read. The book is applicable to managers, recruiters, or leaders in any industry or setting.

The authors complement their discoveries with anecodotes, real-life examples, and analogies to help the reader quickly apply the information to his or her own situation.

First, Break All the Rules will challenge the reader to step away from conventional management teachings by focusing his/her management energies on (to name a few):

1)selecting for talent- not just experience
2)managing around the weaknesses of employees and focusing on their talents.

In addition, the reader will be challenged on new angles of thinking with respect to how great managers are promoting their employees and which employees they spend the most time with.

I highly recommend this book. You will learn "the four keys" that the world's greatest managers possess and you will learn a great deal about yourself.

Stars Do it differently
I agree with the findings of this book. I agree that it's not super new information but the information sunk in with the way it was told. I'm an entrepreneur and the owner of a small business. I picked up the book along with Stop Working by Rohan Hall and a couple others. I have to say that Break all the Rules and Stop Working were the best. I think anyone interested in managing, starting or growing a business should go out and grab these books today.
